I heard this (...that pastors and churches should be feeding the sheep, not entertaining the goats...) in a recent radio sermon by Phillip DeCourcy, and then later accidentally discovered that he was actually quoting Charles Spurgeon. A little more digging and I found that this website that has a short excerpt of Spurgeon's important, timely sermon.

Wow.
This is one of the major reasons why we have officially left "church" (we have NOT left the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, or our faith in Messiah, Yeshua/Jesus).
The sheep need to be fed, not coddled and not ignored, not asked to work one more project, or babysit (instead of teach) one more Sunday, and certainly they don't need to be entertained or amused. We - the followers, the sheep, of all ages -- need to be discipled and fed!
By the way, if you are interested in hearing DeCourcy's sermons on this topic, the website is Know the Truth (ktt.org), and the sermon series is Bring the Book. He has a great Irish accent and seems to have an understanding of his role as a pastor that most pastors and preachers today forget, ignore or don't know. I haven't listened to his other sermons or series, just this one so far.
