I haven't been watching or listening the news for a while. It's always so depressing, negative, and they make the NON-news so sensational. I needed to cleanse all of that garbage out of my mind, heart and attitude a few months ago. The hiatus has done wonders for my heart and attitude., so I'm praying that will eventually help to right the physical strain to my body. To keep abreast of things I rely on reading a few news stories and headlines now and then, but mostly I look to my husband and friends for things I just "need to know" now. (FYI: I still daily keep up with any news that relates to Israel).
This morning I texted Chesapeake Momma telling her another friend emailed and said we needed "to pray for our world today due to all the bad things going on - the Nepal earthquake, the rockets/car attacks in Israel, the riots in Baltimore and the hearing at the Supreme Court"...... What? What hearing at the Supreme Court?? What is going on at the Supreme Court?
Chesapeake Momma filled me in with text #1: "Supreme Court is holding hearings on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage laws from the states." My heart sank. Immediately I felt a huge lump in my throat and wanted to cry, to scream out really. I just feel utter and complete frustration and disappointment and anger about so much of what is going on in this world. There is that little part of me that asks over and over, "Why, YWHW, do you tarry? How much worse will it have to get!?"
Right about that time, Chesapeake Momma sent text #2. It said "Kennedy said, "Let the people vote", but all I heard was "Give us Barabas."
Whoa. She did it again, and in just a few words!
John 18:39-40 is what she was referencing. It says:
"But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Jews?" So they cried out again, saying, "Not this Man, but Barabbas." Now Barabbas was a robber."
Yeshua had not sinned. Barabbas had. The people were choosing for themselves their own path, their own way. Actually, their own destruction. Moses quoted YHWH in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 30, verse 19:
"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!"
Once again people choose curses, death, wrong, debauchery, injustice, unrighteousness, sin.
That realization, because what she said is absolutely true, shocked me back to the reality of things.
YHWH KNOWS what is going on and He is in control.
Nothing surprises or shocks Him when it happens.
He is LORD of all, King of all, Creator of all, Master of all.
Hallelu-Yah! and amen. I will praise His Name forever and ever.
